CUPIX Versus Matterport in AEC Space DanSmigrod 14 3 daysDavidHothersall (52): @RPOceanic @Metroplex360 Thanks Chris. It would be interesting to know if that is actually the raw output point cloud as well as I imagine it could be even denser. I've often wondered if there is a higher quality mesh but it may be that they decimate the raw data before they mesh it and reduce it further once processed. In the main this is all automated and it is that part of the process that most Matterport users don't realise is so...

Solutions for Scanning Large Box Stores DanSmigrod 5 4 monthsleonvanzweel (337): @VTLV It is not about the tool. It is about using the right tool for a specific outcome. Most people's technological knowledge is rather limited. When the question comes up I explain that a small footprint is critical to capture 360 one-shot spherical images. I can use bigger cameras with multiple shots and stitch the images together, but that will cost them a lot more. The Theta/Cupix solution works well in a low-cost environment, where...

3D or 360° - What's the Difference LMTLESS 3 5 monthsadvancedhdr (205): Lmtless, MP is a 3D camera with 360 capabilities. You use the 360 mostly for external shots with much sunlight, the 3D is for inside without sunlight. 3D cameras do not like direct sun as the IR sensors (lasers) can't beam thru to record spacial data. With Google Street View, you would upload as 360 for GSV. I too am a newbie, hope this helps.
photos: MP vs Nikon D810 HarlanHambright 10 6 monthsMetroplex360 (8044): @HarlanHambright While I cannot confirm this, I think that the Matterport Camera does do 5 exposures... just not sure on what the intervals are. Of course, I would suspect that the sensor is by no means comparable to a DSLR - but is quite capable in its own right. @NestorSarmiento It's one of those use-case things. For a Realtor who might not own a DSLR, the Matterport is a single device that can produce photos that are automatically HDR. ...

ICSF16: InsideMaps 3D/VR/Photos v Matterport DanSmigrod 30 2 yearsHelen (748): @JonJ Thanks Jon on their website the 3D pack is 49.95 I was wondering if that included the model. With the pricing you shared it would not. It would be another $40. As I am in Canada add on about an 30% exchange to that pricing it becomes very expensive! I think I would have to charge more for that than I do for Matterport. I would like to offer the service along with the other service's I offer but I am not sure if I had to pay extra for the...
