I have a big client that wants floorpans but not matterport. What is the best and most affordable way to make floorpans without matterport?

@Chi3D The easiest and most affordable way to create high-quality floorplans without Matterport is the following workflow. Create an .OBJ file using Cupix.com (free whilst in Beta. You can take your 360 pictures with a Ricoh Theta S or a Xiaomi MiShere camera and let Petra at Blue-Sketch or Mayank Jain at AmayaCad create a floorplan from the .OBJ file. You will also need to put a ruler ( I use a white 40-inch ruler) in one of your pictures to calibrate the distance alternatively measure the distance between two walls with laser measuring device.

Your other alternatives are to use one of the many apps like PlanUp to create your floorplans. This, however, requires you to measure every distance.

Can someone please explain the process of getting my 360's and dimensions for Blue Sketch to be able to make floor plans for me?

Hi Chi3d

1.Go to CUPIX.COM and watch the tutorials under the "SUPPORT" tab.
2. If you only want floorplans, buy yourself a Ricoh Theta V (video)camera.
3. Walk through the space that you want the floor plan of and record the 360 video or alternatively take 360 stills in HDR (better quality) according to the Cupix instructions. - Similar to Matterport spacing. Place ruler (I pace a 40-inch ruler above a doorway) in one of the spaces to calibrate the distance for the floorplan or take a laser measuring device and measure between two walls.
4. Upload to CUPIX
5. Wait a few hours to render.
6. When your model is ready, download the OBJ file
7. Send the OBJ file and calibration distance to Petra at Blue-sketch.com
8. Pay her
9. Get your Floorplan

@Chi3d What would you charge the client for a floor plan? What would you charge them for Matterport? if they wanted it? As a Matterport provider of course Matterport is ideal what you want to provide. Have you thought of offering the floor plan at no extra charge if they use you for Matterport. Not great for a 1 time client but if they turn into a long term client it may be well worth it.

Sounds like using the matterport would be best as you would need to buy a new camera to do just floor plans. IMO

as an update,.. I see that Blue-Sketch is offering 60% off 2D floorplans for WGAN Basic, Standard and Premium members! http://blue-sketch.com/we-get-around-network-promotion/

That may even make the purchase of a Theta worthwhile in a few months.
