Hi All,

Matterport capture seems to degrade the image. It’s only 1700 pixels tall when extracted at high res and loses detail. (Color and exposure identical to MP.)

Establishing alignment in an existing MP tour is problematic. Always takes several attempts but at least it’s near instantaneous unlike the 5 minutes waiting for blk. Tour started with theta is a breeze.

I love the concept of doing a whole job with just an iPhone and a camera the same size as the phone. Doing one tomorrow in Knoxville. Will post.

Biggest problem is getting out of sight if you’re in a big open area. Sure wish you could control one hemisphere at a time!

@HarlanHambright

Thank you for the above. Most helpful and interesting to see how the Ricoh Theta Z1 compares to the Matterport Pro2 Camera.

Please do share the Knoxville tour with us.

I'll be curious if you decide the Ricoh Theta Z1 is good enough to shoot the entire project.

Enjoy your weekend,

Dan

P.S. Is using the Ricoh Theta Z1 10 second timer an option for getting out of the shot? (Will the Z1 automatically re-sync and upload?

Does this mean that by using ThetaZ1 or Insta360 OneX, we can replace the BLK360 when capturing exterior shots and still get the dollhouse with exterior and interior?

Thanks

You drive the theta like MP with iPad. That’s not the issue.

Technically you can eliminate the blk but it will still be best solution in certain circumstances. A garden path I did in bright sun had to shoot every 4-5 feet to get alignments. Blk more accurate and goes like 30’ or better.
