A good way to check your web site speed is to use the free tool at
It gives you the loading time and it identifies any parts of the page that are loading slowly.

For optimizing images I use Photoshop's Image Processor tool.
I created an action that always sets every image to 72dpi (best for web) and run the action and set image processor pixel width to following Widths
Full width carousel or image at 1500 pixels
Regular gallery image that might be open in a gallery pop-up at 700 pixels
Smaller images at 300 pixels
Set quality at 7
Save as jpg
Unless I need transparency for logos etc where I will always use png

If I have a load of high res Matterport snapshots, I run them through this to bring them down to a sensible size.
If needed I rename them using Photoshop batch processing and add pixel width into the name.

It's pretty fast and seems to work.

Has Wordpress plugin, if that’s your thing, and has PS plugin. Compresses well to hit a good page load score using the above suggested.

Would recommend using lighthouse chrome plugin as well to get optimize suggestions.

And obviously CDN all the images.
