Hi All,

If you know that you have a 500 SQ FT outdoor patio and you know when the sun will be behind the house, you can successfully scan outdoors with Matterport and GeoCV.

But, how do you know where and when the sun will be in relationship to the outdoor patio and the house?

One solution might be the Helios Pro iOS app.

"...the Helios Pro app simulates how sunlight and shadows will fall throughout the day–anytime, anywhere, and any day from the past or in the future," says this helpful blog post, 6 Helpful Apps for Shooting and Editing Video on Your Phone, on the Wistia website.

"Using two distinct types of Augmented Reality (AR), Helios Pro can overlay the position of the sun on camera images and project a 3D version of any landscape on Earth with simulated lighting to help you identify the perfect time and the best angles for all your videos before you even step foot on set … all from your iPhone or iPad."

According to the Helios App description:

"Augmented Reality and light simulation magic into the alchemal mix. Now you can visualize exactly what shots will look like at any location, at any time of the year or day. You can see precicely how light will illuminate and the shadows will fall."
