I never had this happen until today...or even thought about it. I want to see if anyone else has any thoughts on how to price this.

Background, a few months ago my team photographed (ground interior and exterior stills and aerial stills and video) a large abandoned industrial / storage facility. We delivered the images and video to the client (the real estate broker and the current owner) and got paid. Usually the end of the story.

However, it is now at auction and a potential bidder wants ALL unedited footage and stills.

My client is fine with releasing the imagery.

What would you charge someone for the ALL unedited footage and stills?

The edited video and stills were only licensed to my client to market the property.

My client is selling the property. The imagery was used to market and showcase the property.

So, it's actually a new client?

I would charge the new client the same amount for the content that you did license. (I would not give it to them for free or at a discount. It's your intellectual property.

About the unedited stuff, license it too (for an additional amount).

Make sure the client knows they are licensing the content: not a buy-out which is a different amount.

The only concern I have would be and I do not know if you have a signed contract you use that has "a hold harmless" clause that if the potential bidder uses the photos in a way to back out of a sale point out an issue with the listing of the property at the auction. Then the seller goes after you. Did you offer the seller a chance to completely view all unedited shots?
