Hi All,

If you are just getting started with Matterport - or thinking about buying a Matterport 3D Camera – this Matterport created video will be helpful: Best Practices Scanning Outdoors.

What You Will Learn

✓ Scanning Outdoors is not an officially supported feature (incomplete mesh from sunlight)
✓ Use 360º Views whenever possible (not connected to other scans: viewable in Highlights Reel)
✓ Save outdoor scans for last to decrease chance of alignment issues
✓ Scan when the sun is below the horizon (before sunrise or after sunset)
✓ Sunlight is a no-no for scanning outdoors (clouds do not shield infrared light)
✓ Look at the Matterport Capture app to make sure outdoor scans are where you expect them
✓ If the outdoor scan is on the wrong place in the Capture app mini-map, delete it before scanning again
✓ When scanning outdoors, shorten the distance between the Matterport 3D Camera and the last scan
