Matterport and Hexagon’s Multivista Partner to Introduce Next Generation of Immersive 3D Media in Construction Documentation

PHOENIX, AZ AND SUNNYVALE, CA (PRWEB) AUGUST 29, 2017

This week, the leader in visual construction documentation, Multivista, and the leader in immersive media technology, Matterport, announced a partnership to integrate advanced 3D technologies as a full-service offering for the construction industry.

Multivista has developed a custom feature set on top of Matterport’s 3D application framework, providing seamless interaction between Multivista functionality and Matterport 3D Spaces. With Matterport’s immersive 3D models embedded within the Multivista platform, Multivista customers will be able to virtually walk through their project site from anywhere in the world.

This brings immersive reality capture to construction documentation, and showcases one of the many use cases for 3D media across a number of well-established markets including architecture, engineering and construction (AEC).

“We are excited to partner with Multivista, a leader and cutting-edge provider of construction documentation services,” said Bill Brown, CEO of Matterport. “By leveraging our next generation 3D reality capture, in conjunction with our first of its kind application platform which enables the deep integration of our 3D content, Multivista is adding groundbreaking new features to the construction documentation industry. This marks the beginning of a new era in AEC, and I am thrilled that Matterport and Multivista are teaming up to drive this important innovation.”

“With closer alignment on our software roadmaps we are better positioned to build out new functionality to support the specific information workflows required by the AEC industry,” said Graham Twigg, Chief Technology Officer of Multivista. “This collaboration has allowed us to improve our Site-Walk 360° service which delivers an immersive virtual walkthrough tied to a state-of-the-art interactive floorplan.”

With over 550,000 real world Spaces captured across 80 countries, Matterport’s unique 3D media solution has revolutionized the way businesses across industries convey information about these spaces. Multivista, meanwhile, has been contracted on over 2.5 billion square feet of construction projects worldwide and offers a full suite of visual construction documentation services in over 70 international markets. This first of its kind partnership will further accelerate the pace of innovation in AEC, making the next generation of 3D media seamlessly available through a feature-rich, cloud-based construction documentation platform.

@Metroplex360

My impression from reading the press release ...

"Multivista has developed a custom feature set on top of Matterport’s 3D application framework, providing seamless interaction between Multivista functionality and Matterport 3D Spaces. With Matterport’s immersive 3D models embedded within the Multivista platform, Multivista customers will be able to virtually walk through their project site from anywhere in the world"

And, MultiVista website, Matterport has provided an SDK to enable a custom feature set.

For example, I could imagine that when you click on a 2D photo (tile?) of flashing in the construction floor plan, you have the option to see the Matterport Space for that EXACT spot to see the relationship of the flashing in the space: what's above, below, right and left.

If I have nailed the functionally - a guess that's a pun – then MultiVista would need Matterport SDK access to enable this fly-in to the exact spot.

Correct?

Wondering when Matterport will make the SDK publicly available for 3rd party developers?

Best,

Dan

@DanSmigrod This is what I'm thinking too.

We can already start a Matterport Tour from anywhere via deep linking - however, we cannot control a tour from outside of the frame. Hexagon seem to be hinting that they can, which would hint at access to new features that we do not currently have.
