Is anyone using a joystick for navigation?

I came across a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick.

They're supposed to be windows compatible with 12 programmable buttons. Which can be great for making videos. I don't see an ability to move like a mouse, but the other features on the keyboard can all be programmed in.

Sounds cool! We did some tests using multiple projectors and an Xbox controller some time ago, and it seemed to work OK. Check out the video

I use a 3D mouse with Google Earth but never had much luck with it for Matterport.

@Tosolini That's right, you got to put it up on the infinity wall. Didn't realize that was an xbox controller.

Helen, I gotta play with your Google Earth idea! Your's are awesome! I got airports all around this valley. Make that drop video from the sky to front porch work out after all, followed by a navigation through the home and a click to start the tour at the end of the video.... genius.

I programmed some of these keyboard strokes into the joystick. I suppose it's going to take some practice using the joystick to go to the correct spots I wanna navigate to.

@Tosolini That Xbox controller video looks smooth compared to anything I've made using arrow keys and testing with a joystick. Did you speed up the video in any of that?

It's one way to record some shorts of our tours without a mouse pointer in the shot and another fee to an outside company.

@vtlv the video of the Xbox controller and the infinity wall is at regular speed, no particular editing. Just captured out from the iPhone
