Hello Friends,

We talk a lot about the image quality of Matterport Pro2.
Here is the 1st 16K x 8K Pano we generated from 4K tiles of Pro2 demo showcase.

You can compare it with Pro1's highest Pano at 8K x 4K.
BTW you can compare with Pro1's HDR result.
Facebook 360 photo

You can compare it with GeoCV's demo pano at the same resolution (14K x 7K).

You can download the original cube maps from below link:
Pro1's Cube Maps and Panos
Pro2's Cube Maps and Panos

Thank you.

Having a closer look there seems to be a lot of stitching errors. Is that due to the extraction or the native image capture?

@Marc This is what I was most curious about as well. As long as the stitching errors continue they will just not cut it as an alternative to regular photos.

@mp2fp I agree it can't replace the regular photos.
But with Matterport Pro1 or Pro2 you can just scan one time to get all results you may required automatically for only USD19.00.
The result is not perfect but not bad.
It is enough for introducing the house or the exhibition to customers.

For the really luxury house there should be budget for regular perfect photos even 360 panos that perfect processed by manpower.

@JuMP Did you really reassemble all 8 * 8 * 6 tiles from the Pro2 to do this? That's a pretty respectable undertaking for the sake of testing

I built a 4K tile extraction tool too -- you beat me to this but truthfully, I looked at all the tiles and thought to myself... 'well, that's a whole lot of tiles!' And was very thankful to hear that Matterport will be allowing pano downloading They have the cubes to assemble

@mp2p I think that the goal of the 'Pro3' camera should be a redesign wherein the camera is actually at a nodal point.

@Metroplex360 We can make sample JS code to reassemble all tiles automatic.
It is a lots of tiles but code can be generated by "for" loop.
If there is a requirement we can make a free tool to access them more easy.
