embedding Matterports into e mails?2273

GeorgeK private msg quote post Address this user
For marketing reasons it would be really cool to figure out how to embed Matterports and Theta 360s right into a yahoo or g mail. I took the embed code and tried it in Yahoo and that did not work.

Any ideas?

@GeorgeK

For the Matterport User Group Forum monthly newsletter (15th of the month) - and We Get Around Referral Network monthly newsletter (1st of the month), we use a screen capture that is clickable to the video.

For example, for this MUG Forum newsletter, when you click on the first large image, it automatically plays the video on YouTube.

We use MailChimp for sending our monthly newsletters.

Does this answer your question?

Ah! Now that I re-read your email, you are talking about individual emails sent with yahoo or gmail accounts.

I wonder if there is a 3rd-party solution that enables that.

Perhaps @metroplex360 or @rpetersn have some thoughts about how this might be accomplished. (I've love this to be a new feature of WP3D Models )

Even when I copied the page and just laid it onto the G mail which works for some HTML applications the Matterport shows as a Graident Box, but there is no ability to play it.

They give us the embed code it just will not trasfer into an e mail. As a Realtor I want to be able to share this as many ways as possible. If I e mailed it to someone they could watch it right on their phone... instead of directing them to a site where it is posted.

Maybe give Larry Page or Sergey Brin a call? They could likely set that ability up for us.

Hey guys...

Thanks for the notes here. Anyone who has tried to embed a video into an email will note that it doesn't come through on the other side quite like you intended.

Mailchimp has some more information on this here.

The usual solution is to (as @DanSmigrod notes) embed an IMAGE and link away to the source of the video you want to show.

From my perspective, that's really the best approach for Matterport and/or WP3D Models content. However, making tools that auto-generate "clickable" imagery is something that 3rd Party tools (including WP3D Models) can & should be striving to build/integrate.

I've been using optimized short GIFs with our clients, they are very happy, works great on all desktop and mobile email clients. Then I link the image click with the model's URL and... BOOM! You got that lead's attention and micro-conversion. Cheers

@GeorgeK We embed, then link it to an URL.. was the best method I could find that is catchy and truly works in any case. If you need further help, please let me know. Thumbs up appreciated! LOL

@franmts, I have considered using gifs as well, but the file sizes can be quite large. How large are the files that you embed?
Thanks,
Jon

1-2Mb quite a bit of research on GIF optimization. Try downloading this one and sending on a test email
