I started with a gym indoor area with a pro2. Then after I came to a pool area I switched to BLK360 and scanned all areas with a BLK360. Most BLK360 scans were HDR3 and medium density. I took a few with no HDR and low density. However just in case I'd have problems with overlapping it with Pro2 scans I decided to scan mostly with HDR3 and medium density.

The biggest challenge was to find a spot where I could add a Pro2 scan. Spots where I'd think it should work could not align. In some spots it was easy even without any decent vertical structure around in some pro2 scans could not align at all. After some time I found one spot near a pool side and it let me walk backwards to steps to the gym area and place a few pro2 scans.

Anyway I think it is looking great. I have decided not to try showing water in the pool. I did a prior test with adding converted to 3D 360 views from a pro2 and I did not like it. Even though my minimap shows all pool water, after processing some of water is removed for unknown reason from a tour. Conversion also destroys some mesh areas created by a BLK360 making them black void.

Looks great. It's an $18K scanner. Are you able to increase the fee substantially to justify it?

Personally, I'm hesitant to spend a dime on matterport equipment.

Impossible to get into the MCP/MSS network, Matterport will steal your clients faster than you can snap your fingers, and there is a race to the bottom among providers who are terrified of losing a job.... so they do it at or below cost.

Oh and Matterport markets it that any fool with a handheld phone can scan a space.

Remind me again why I would invest more in that space? I personally prefer areas where I'm one of a few who do it, there are multiple barriers to entry, and there is a profit margin.

If it was a pro3 for the same kind of money I would not buy it. However is a 3rd party product and I believe for want we do it is pretty damn good. So I am using it with Matterport because for now it is the only option for me while I can learn how to use and deliver a final product with it without Matterport.

I have already told all my partners that my rates for jobs when a BLK360 is required will be 20% extra.
This job however was a replacement for a local MSP whose camera broke the same way as mine. He asked me to do two apartments there for him but in fact I did 5 plus extra 4 common areas in about 9 hours in total.

I did screw up with estimation how long it would take me and quoted four hours for their lobby(very small tour) and this tour. Although it has taken me 80 minutes more I spent at leas 20 at a start talking to a client and then had to interact with local residents in the gym and pool to make sure they do not mind to be captured.

Fitting name for the complex: Panorama.

I'm wondering if the BLK2Fly would suffice with Matterport. Imagine scanning each level of that apartment building and creating a floor for each, with entry into units from outside on a corresponding floor - or even jumping from inside the building to outside at the proper level that the BLK2Fly has scanned.

P.S. Matterport, if you use this idea you owe me a blk360 and BLK2fly.

I found it. Gee only $56K SMH. You'd need $200/hr to make that thing work and then only if you had a full schedule of demand for it.

I actually very like a Leica BLKGO. If I had it and it worked with Matterport that job would take a few times less as it can scan while you walk... no need to wait 3-5 minutes for a scan with a BLK360. No need to worry about people around as you can just pause scanning.

After I found a spot for a Pro2 scan it actually took me about 25-30 minutes to add a Pro2 scan next to each BLK360 scan. So 2 hours was spent there on doing BLK360 scans and I spent much less on Pro2 scanning.

BTW, there is only one visible BLK360 scan left in in this tour. I wanted to remove them all. However I have left one because it is sitting exactly on a spot with a Pro2 scan and it is hard to select for hiding. It is the one you jump on at a start. BLK360 360 photos may be low in resolution but even with HDR3 they are much better in dynamic range & colours.

I have made another version without trimming most of the building façade. See it below and let me know which one you like more. This version is not for the client so all scans are visible.
