Matterport scan: go back next day to add two rooms with a Ricoh Theta Z1?14590

AerialWayz private msg quote post Address this user
Hi All,

I have a quick question to the Matterport experts out there. I just completed a Matterport scan of a restaurant within a large resort. Scan went well but there were two rooms that I know I scanned that did not show on the finished scan. As I still have the full scan on my iPhone and have not published on the Matterport platform, can I still go to the restaurant and add the two rooms to the existing scan? I was using my Theta Z1 for the camera part.

Thanks,
John.

@AerialWayz

Yes. Because lighting may change that could affect stitching, you may have to overlaps some scans to successfully connect the dots.

I also forgot to ask, how can I or can add a pdf to a Matter Tag? When I tried it just had a link to a web address?

Thanks,
John

@AerialWayz

Can you start a new WGAN Forum discussion on your .pdf MatterTag question?

Can you include a screen grab of the problem?

Thanks,

Dan

The .pdf has to be hosted somewhere. I use WordPress and upload the .pdf file to my Media, and then Wordpress provides a URL to my website where that file is and I embed that in a Mattertag as rich media URL.

For example: https://queencity3d.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/sample-pdf.pdf

(This is a dummy document)

@AerialWayz Did you check to verify the scans did not get attached to a different part of your model. Did you verify that the scans are missing. If you go into the edit format you should be able to track all scans and see if the scan are there. You would see the scans listed in order. I would check that and if they are missing then rescan. But if you find them see why they were not attached to the right location.

Hi @ron0987,

Thanks for the info. I did check a few things and seen that one of the guys went outside and changed to 3D Capture and may have forgotten to switch back to 3D Scan for indoors and carried on with the project, so I have had to add these to the map as a 360 view. It still looks good, but lesions learnt.

Thanks, John.

On coming back, be careful. if big objects such a tables have been moved a lot at the point in existing scans where you need to add these extra rooms it may not align at all. If that's the case try to put these big objects where they were.

Hi @Wingman,

Great info. I did a photo of the table locations and setting. It’s starting to work out now. Great responses and help from everyone.

Thanks, John.

@AerialWayz if the 3d view was in the correct location you can go back to the capture app and pull up the 3d view and there are several tabs one is convert view to 3D scan. It shows as being in beta version but I think it is for this very reason. I just checked my last two scans on my IPad and the feature is still available. Then you just have to reproces the model.
