[Week of 22 February 2021] There's some evidence to suggest that the next generation professional Theta camera is on the way and an announcement could be made on the 25th of February. I should stress that this is currently just a rumor and there are no confirmed reports of a new Ricoh Theta camera, however some social media posts seem to suggest there will be. The Ricoh Theta Z1 became the go-to all in one 360 camera for creation virtual tours. What will the Theta Z2 bring? I hope to see an upgrade in resolution, some optical improvements to reduce noise, better battery life and removable memory. This is because of the compliance with new laws and regulations in Japan and the difficulty in obtaining some of the parts used. Currently, we are urgently preparing to deliver products that comply with laws and regulations as soon as possible, and we believe that we will be able to inform you by the end of March. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. Source A couple of outlets are saying this means announcement of a new model by the end of the month but this could just mean more Z1s, surely? This hasn't been precipitated by great innovation on Ricoh's part but by supply chain shortages so I wouldn't be too hopeful. |
