Video: Matterport Academy | Connecting the Camera (Lesson 2) with Matterport Content Marketing Manager Amir Frank | Video courtesy of Matterport YouTube Channel (28 September 2017)

Hi All,

If you are just getting started with Matterport, here is Lesson 2 of 11 from the Matterport Academy | Connecting the Camera (Lesson 2) (above) with Matterport Content Marketing Manager Amir Frank.

Video Transcript

Hi, I'm Amir from Matterport and today we want to talk about connecting your iPad to the Matterport camera.

You need to connect your iPad to the camera in order to control the camera. Once a scan is complete, the camera then transfers the data to the iPad.

The camera and the iPad communicate over Wi-Fi. This is a special Wi-Fi network only between the camera and the iPad. To connect to the camera's network, first turn the camera on and wait until you see the Wi-Fi icon flashing on the back of the camera. This indicates the network is active but nothing is connected.

Now on your iPad, go to settings and then Wi-Fi. The camera's Wi-Fi network starts with Matterport and is followed by the camera serial number. Tap the camera's name to connect. When you see a blue check mark next to the Wi-Fi name, you're connected.

You may notice the message, no internet connection below the network name. This is perfectly fine. Remember the connection is not to the internet but between the iPad and the camera only. You can now open the [Matterport] Capture app and begin scanning.

The Wi-Fi range is about 50 feet or 15 meters. This means instead of walking behind the camera while it scans, you can also go into another room, hide behind the wall and then tap the scan button.
