|Is it possible to export a file from the Matterport (ipad) to a 3D printer to have a working model?|

I have had the opportunity to work with some of the obj files as I am looking for purchase a matterport. My application will not be primarily real state..I am in the AEC side of things.
To answer your question, you can but you will need to perform quite a bit of clean up in a mesh editing application. A lot of the work involved will depend of the space you captured. Often times depending of what you want you are better off remodeling based on the mesh matterport provides. I hope this helps.
If you want to send me a model to look at I can do that for you.
Have a great weekend !

It does not work that good since you are looking at the inside of the model, Crullier is right it would be easier to use the OBJ file and creat your model around it. But this can be time consuming. It just depends on what your needing the model for and is it worth it.

|Yes for architecture you'd want nice solid walls so re modeling is probably needed but I can imagine that you could turn all the polygons into 'tubes' with something like Blender and export as the correct file so the printer sees solids rater than faces. You might end up with something like spiderman's house though.|

It sure is. As mentioned there is a lot of cleanup needed, but it is possible. The challenge is that there is ~$500.00 CAD of work (the newest MP update that fills the holes likely will reduce this) to thicken the walls, strip the furniture that won't print (E.g. 4 x chair legs can't support the weight of the plastic of the top of the chair). Printing via sculpteo or Shapeways is ~$75.00 CAD.
