State of the nation MP + Unity3947

Hi gang,

I had a look through the threads, and didn't see any recent posts, so wanted to ask in a fresh thread.

Is it yet possible (and workable) to use an MP model inside Unity....

I used to be on a board at a game developer and was considering exploring ways to 'gamify' our models, but i don't want to start the exploration before seeing if its viable.

thoughts appreciated !

Best,
Kev

It's the gaming worlds defacto development environment.... as they would say "Everything you need to succeed in games AR/VR"

Yes, it's possible. And here is what it looks like (original and Unity video)

Great tx...

I see some potential here, but clearly the models need some cleanup. It almost looks like something from a Tim Burton movie...

Do you think that the model would be cleaner with a higher density of scans ?

I see some potential...

More scans might help, but I think there are intrinsic limitations with the low res OBJ that is put available to us.

yeah, understood... interesting to see DannyBasting's engine thread also come back to life... clearly some interest in finding a path forward.

Yeah it was long overdue, there seem to be far to little hours in a day

Game engines are definitely the future for architectural visualization. I rarely ever touch my "traditional" rendering tools anymore.

What is it exactly that you would like to achieve in Unity?

I hope MP will provide a better OBJ in the future. If you compare the pointcloud quality to the OBJ, this one is much reduced in quality.

Maybe pointcould together with the single captured photos could produce a HQ 3D model.

Not Unity but also interesting as WebVr is getting better and better: http://forgejs.org/samples

@Tosolini : will you join the ivrpa vienna event? Would be great to meet you in person.

Yes indeed, I use the pointclouds in order to create proper usable CAD files.
