Annotate and measure in Pointclouds3644

Being able to let clients annotate and measure inside the Matterport data is a big selling point for renovation jobs.

Since Matterport uses the low resolution OBJ file in the Matterport workshop, I looked in to some alternatives.

I came across this rough gem called LiDAR desktop viewer.

You can import the pointcloud in to this free viewer, export it in a different fileformat and send it to your clients. Your clients are then able to measure and annotate in the LiDAR viewer (without the ability to create their own CAD files since you are the only one with the XYZ file format).

Annotations can be saved as CSV files and easly shared. This makes it possible for everyone to create their own annotations and to import the once you (or your client) need(s).

I've send them an e-mail regarding the online version. But it's still in beta at the moment. Desktop version seems to be alot better for the time being.

Anyone else has any similar free or cheap software to let clients measure an annotate in pointclouds? I'd love to hear about it!

Oh yeah.. almost forgot.. I created a screenrecording to show some of the functions inside the viewer. Link below.

That looks great, much better than anything I have achieved converting OBJ to £DS and then importing to Sketchup.

So do you convert the Matterport OBJ file or are you getting the date elsewhere?

Thanks

Terry
