Scanning 7000 sq foot home advice1480

From a logistical standpoint, I'm scanning a 7000 sq foot home with three levels. Should I start in the basement / lower level calling it floor 1? I'm just concerned how the dollhouse will be rendered with lower level/main/second floor. Also the naming convention of floor 1, 2, 3. Thanks!

Everything we've read says to start in the basement. It's worked out well for us on the multi-level scans that we've done. When you go to start the next floor, there is an option on the ipad to start a new floor.

This will also affect the floorplan view as you can select floor one, floor two, etc

We tried to rename the floors, but in the floorplan view, it still comes across as floor 1, floor 2, floor 3

@Wonderdawg

It does not 'matter' which floor you start. The iPad view is only a guide to separate the floors so that you can see which scans are on which floor.

Matterport will always number the floors 1,2,3 starting with the lowest floor.

When we decide where to shoot, we consider:

1. Where is the sun now and where will it be. We want to shoot on the opposite side as the sun.
2. Are people in the house? When we begin a shoot at 7 am, that's likely, so we shoot accordingly
3. Are there outdoor decks and terraces that would look nice in the model? The camera can not see the sun

Have fun with the 7,000 sf house. Exciting.

Dan, is right on the money again UGH, it sound like he knows what he is doing, just kidding. We always asses what we got, what we are trying to accomplish. We are just like Dan we asses the sun, exterior scans, is the home occupied, overall size and work flow not worrying about the floors.
